Management Services
Inventory Management, Efficiency Improvement Programme's
A key aspect of our service is the provision of managed services be they maintenance, project or integrated service management. We aim to provide customised programme's to improve reliability, reducing downtime and increasing efficiency. As well as our general management services associated with our main engineering work we also offer customised programme's including inventory management and efficiency improvement programme's, as detailed below:
Inventory Management Services: Our inventory management service for machine spares and general components helps to lower the cost of spares, reduces downtime and release your cash. Batch manufacture and stock-holding allows us to reduce prices, ensure rapid deliveries and reduce the customers’ inventory. The service is tailored for each customer to fit with their own business requirements allowing for spares to be taken up component by component or in bulk and if we cannot make we will source for our customer OR provide the source. This is a comprehensive service that covers future design changes in components including drawing and stock updates. The basic structure of the service is detailed below:
1. Customer characterises the component
- Clearly title and equipment used on
- Historic consumption or categorise into runner, repeater, stranger
- Assess component risk – i.e. likelihood of failure and consequences of failure
2. CML Engineering does the rest
- Quote
- Draw the component if drawings are not available
- Manufacture and hold stock at our cost
- Provide the customer with stock numbers (or use the customer’s codes)
- Maintain the drawing register
- Standard, next day or same day deliveries
3. Continuous Improvement
- Identify design improvements
- Highlight cost improvements
- Propose alternatives
Efficiency Improvement Programme's: This management programme is designed to determine the exact nature of a problem and to find out what’s wrong, price the fixes and calculate the payback. We make your problems our problems.
There is rarely an immediate solution to issues of inefficiency, it usually requires data gathering, analysis, costing, planning and implementation: The structure of these programme's usually follows that outlined below:
Data gathering and analysis:
- Timing and activity studies
- Material flow mapping
- Variable sampling
- Statistical analysis
Identifying the key Pareto problems
Working out the remedies and costing them
Planning and implementing the fixes:
- Re-engineering and re-organising equipment
- Improving operational and management processes
- Improving procedures
